stuck "Creating Support request"

I created a couple of Azure support requests yesterday using the Management Portal. There is a notification saying "Creating Support request". The support request has now been duplicated 6 times. I'm not sure what is triggering the creation of the support request. I think it may be each time I open up the portal. I even tried opening up Chrome in Incognito and I still have the problem:

TFS and Release Managment Setup in Azure VM- Release managment Extension not avaliable

Hi

We are planning to setup TFS and Release Management on a VM in Azure. In the portal there is an option to create a VM with TFS which is great but I do not see any option to install Release Managment as an extension.

based on this link Install Release Management as Extension (at the end of the article). I do not see the this option under extension when i am setting up a VM.

VM Extensions

If there is another way of installing this from the portal please let me know

I know I can install all this as a stand alone installer but since azure provides these options thought i would use them.

Thanks

Migrated subscription items don't work in the new management portal

I recently migrated a few Web Apps from one subscription to another. In the manage.windowsazure.com portal everything works as expected, however in the new portal.azure.com preview the migrated items still show as belonging to the old subscription and don't function when selected.

Also one of the migrated Web Apps has two Application Insights items attributed to it, one for the old subscription and another for the new subscription. One has a resource group of "Default-Web-WestUS" and the other is slightly more lower case "Default-Web-westus".

Figured I mention it in case it's of interest to the engineers for investigating.

Apart from that, I'm loving the new portal for the items it functions for.

Everything works fin in the old portal.

The preview portal was working fine a few days ago.

I have tried cleaning browser cache, different browsers etc but the problem persists.

Can anyone help?

Hi,

I had a msdn subscription with registered mail id 'ansar.pa@mycompany.com', recently in our company got Enterprise Account and my email id 'ansar.pa@mycompany.com' added in the EA portal as Account administrator.

When I logged in the EA portal using my email id, my msdn subscription has been listed in the EA portal with information as it is converted to EA

So I understand that, my msdn subscription has been converted to EA, so that I may not enjoy the benefit of monthly creditable amount. So can you please provide me steps to do for remove msdn subscription from my EA account and mapped to another microsoft account.

Thanks,

Ansar

Whenever I press the "NEW" button the loading seems to take forever. And I also get a notification that says "Failed to load the marketplace", which I think might be related to that problem?

Anyone who has any experience with this?

Thanks in advance!

Set JArray values with invalid key value: "LastUpdatedTime" on new alert rule creation

$

Hey all!

I'm trying to create a new alert rule using version 0.9.11 of the Monitoring Library and am getting this error on alertsClient.rules.CreateOrUpdate:

"Set JArray values with invalid key value: "LastUpdatedTime". Array position index expected."

That's interesting because LastUpdatedTime is a DateTime object, and whether I set it or I don't, if I set a breakpoint, it does set itself correctly, but the API appears to be expecting a JSON hash?

I've tested alertsClient and I'm able to get existing alerts (also metrics with metrics client), so I don't believe it's an access issue.

Any ideas?

The full code I'm using for the test (borrowed virtually verbatim from the Cloud Cover video here):

Rule newRule = newRule

{

    Name = "CPU Over 90%",

    Id = Guid.NewGuid().ToString(),

    Description = "CPU Has been over 90% for 5 minutes",

    IsEnabled = true,

    LastUpdatedTime = DateTime.Now,

    Condition = newThresholdRuleCondition

    {

        Operator = Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Management.Monitoring.Alerts.Models.ConditionOperator.GreaterThan,

        Threshold = 90,

        WindowSize = TimeSpan.FromMinutes(5),

        DataSource = newRuleMetricDataSource

        {

            MetricName = "Percentage CPU",

            ResourceId = "",

            MetricNamespace = ResourceIdBuilder.BuildCloudServiceResourceId(<cloudservicename>, <deploymentname>)

        }

    }

};

RuleAction action = newRuleEmailAction

{

    SendToServiceOwners = true,

};

newRule.Actions.Add(action);

OperationResponse alertResponse = alertsClient.Rules.CreateOrUpdate(newRuleCreateOrUpdateParameters { Rule = newRule });

Console.WriteLine("Create alert rule response: "+ alertResponse.StatusCode);

Hi team,

We have a cloud service that deploy our production environment in East US Azure data center.

From 4.30 the instances keeps 'Waiting for the status (Role cannot be reached by the host system.)'

and 'Busy (Stabilizing role... Calling OnRoleRun. [2015-05-01T01:39:35Z])'

we tried to image these unhealthy instances but it doesn't work.

we would like to know how can we fix these problems, any feedback will be appreciate.

thanks in advance.

Troubleshooting "We were unable to find any subscriptions associated with your account" errors in management portal

$

Dear Azure Community,

We are seeing a pattern of customers reporting that they sign in to the Azure management portal and then see a message indicating "We were unable to find any subscriptions associated with your account". That can certainly cause some understandable angst! But don't dismay, you just may have simply signed in to the wrong account.

Cause #1: Wrong account selected during sign-in

One of the common causes is that users are signing in with an account that is different than the account that their subscription is associated with. That is, they authenticate and sign in successfully, but the identity that they sign in with actually does not have access to any Azure subscriptions.

In particular, in October we launched new identity features and tighter integration between the Azure management portal and Azure Active Directory. As part of that, there is a new email-based disambiguation feature in place. When you sign in you are first prompted to enter your email address:

Email address for sign in prompt

If the email-address you enter here is valid in only one identity namespace, you are then taken directly to the appropriate sign-in page to authenticate. But in the case that your email address is valid both as an Organizational identity and as a Microsoft account (MSA, formerly known as Windows Live ID), you are presented with a disambiguation dialog that looks like this:

Identity disambiguation UI

The problem is, if you make the wrong badge selection here it means you will get that alarming "No subscriptions" experience. Furthermore, many current users of Windows Azure today have signed up using their Microsoft account, and so the default selection of "Organizational account" is the wrong choice for those users. Just to confuse things further, the sign-in experience will helpfully remember your choice, and next time through the flow you are presented with only the last selected badge showing for that email address, even though you may have chosen an identity that doesn't have any Azure assets associated. Don't worry, in that case, there is an option to restore the missing badges that you can select.

So, in short, if you're confident that you have entered the email address of an account that is Service Administrator or co-administrator of an Azure subscription and you get the "No subscriptions" message, choose the sign-out option, and repeat the flow, this time selecting the correct badge (and look for that option to restore hidden choices).

Cause #2: You are the Account Administrator of the Subscription but not the Service Administrator

Only users who are either the Service Administrator or a co-administrator on the subscription can sign in to the management portal. If the Account Administrator has assigned a different user as the Service Administrator, that Account Admin will get the "No Subscriptions" experience if they sign into the management portal.

Solutions:

  1. The Account Administrator can sign into the Azure accounts portal (https://account.windowsazure.com) and assign themselves as the Service Administrator
  2. The Service Administrator or another co-admin can sign into the management portal and add the Account Administrator as a co-admin on the subscription

Cause #3: A problem with the subscription

(This is very rare)

In a very narrow set of cases, the Service Administrator of the subscription may have been locked out of the subscription. To repair, the Account Administrator should:

  1. Sign into the accounts portal and choose the option to modify the subscription properties
  2. Assign a different user as the Service Administrator temporarily
  3. Restore the original user as Service Administrator

In roughly 90% of cases, the Account Administrator and Service Administrator are set to be the same user.

Cause #4: When adding a user as co-admin or assing a Service Administrator, the wrong identity was chosen

This is basically an inversion of case #1. Similar to signing in with an account that is valid both as an AAD organizational identity and as a Microsoft Account identity, when you are adding a co-administrator and the target email address is valid as both types of accounts, you will be presented with a disambiguation UI, assuming the appropriate conditions apply (see below).

The user adding another co-administrator in the management portal or an Account Administrator assigning a new Service Administrator in the accounts portal may make the wrong selection during disambiguation, leading the target user to sign-in and see the"no subscriptions" error.

If you sign in to the management portal using a Microsoft account, you may add co-admins who are:

  • Other Microsoft account users
  • If you are also a global directory administrator of an AAD directory, and that AAD directory is the one that is associated with your subscription(s), then you can add users from that directory as co-administrators. If you are not the global tenant admin, you are unable to add organizational identities to the subscription. Note that in the MSA case, the Account Administrator or Service Administrator can transfer the subscription to a different AAD directory if they are a global administrator of the directory (Settings->Subscriptions, Edit Directory in the portal).

If you sign in to the management portal using an AAD organizational identity, you may add co-admins who are:

  • Microsoft account users
  • Users in your AAD organizational directory

Cause #5: Invalid cookie state in the browser

I'm throwing this one in for good measure. Whenever you have sign-in issues, it's always a good idea to rule out some invalid state associated with your browser. Close all browser windows and then start an In-Private session (Internet Explorer) or go Incognito (Chrome) and sign in again. If you are able to sign in successfully that way and access your subscriptions, but you cannot do so otherwise, clear your cache and all cookies and that should resolve the issue for you. You might also try multiple computers from different locations to rule out proxy server or ISP issues.

Conclusion

We hope this posting helps you resolve your issue. If you continue to have issues after following these troubleshooting steps, please don't hesitate to contact customer support. If another user has access to the subscription, that user can sign in to open the support ticket (use the billing support option, which doesn't require a paid support plan). If that is not possible, telephone support may be your only option. The "No Subscriptions" dialog has a link to customer support phone numbers globally. You can refer the support personnel to this posting if necessary. Have your subscription ID and UPN (sign-in email address) ready.

Hope that helps!

What can you do with an account with ea.azure.com privileges?

Hi,

I’ve been taking a look at the ea.azure.com portal and I’ve been reading a little documentation across the internet – yet I still don’t understand the scope and capabilities of the portal and the users within.

Do users in there, for example, have the right to create/delete global administrator accounts on the Azure platform  (e.g. Azure Active Directory, Azure, etc).  Or is the limit of their power to simply work with licensing and agreements? What is the risk if someone does compromise one of the accounts with rights in this portal?

Problems activating Azure benefits for MSDN subscription

$

Hello all

This morning, I activated my MSDN Subscription. Next, I linked the Azure benefits to my work account, clicking the provided link on the "My Account" page. Next I clicked on the link to activate Microsoft Azure.

After signing in with my organizational account as provided earlier and going through the verification process (sms to mobile phone), I was asked if I wanted to upgrade my trial subscription to "Visual Studio Ultimate with MSDN". On the next page there was a prompt saying the setup process would take a while and a video on the management portal embedded. After a while the prompt changed to something like "the process is taking longer than expected" and a little while later a message was displayed that the process had failed and that I should contact support.

But standard support directed me to MSDN support which says it's an Azure issue and to post here.

What I found out in the meantime:

  • I can sign in to Azure with my organisational account
  • I can see the Subscription "Visual Studio Ultimate with MSDN" here: https://account.windowsazure.com/subscriptions/
  • When tring to open the Management Portal I get an error message saying that no subscriptions were found

Who can fix this? Thank you in advance for any help!

Greetings,
Michael

PS: Both the Microsoft Account used to activated the MSDN subscription and the Organisational Account used for the Azure signup use the same Email address. But as I can see the subscription listed on the account page in Azure I when logged in with the organisational account (see above), I assume I did everything correctly.

What does MSDN Azure Subscription expires Unlimited mean?

"Manage your subscriptions" says

Select subscription:
Visual Studio Professional with MSDN
Expires Unlimited

Subscription expires:
Unlimited

I am receiving email expiration notices from AzureTeam that say...
"Our records indicate that you have MSDN Azure subscription(s) and that your associated MSDN subscription(s) have expired."

How can the accounts be "expiring" when I'm logged in and the account says my instance of Visual Studio Professional has what I interpret as an unlimited expiration date?

Azure Enterprise Account Billing API

$

Hi,

We have a Enterprise Account for Azure and we need to develop an application to fetch the billing details of EA into the Amazon S3 frequently. For doing the POC we have downloaded sample .Net application provided in the EA portal for Billing API calling and it is working fine with sample account (Enrollment -100).

But when we give our Enterprise Account Enrollment ID and Access key it is not getting proper details. It is not showing any billing information and displays only status of API calling. For Detail report output is 200 OK, and for Summary report it is getting"404 Report not available null". But from the portal we are getting billing information, but billing API could not provide.

Please let me know why it is not showing correct result from Billing API and if we need to do anything for enabling this Billing API.

Thanks,

Ansar

Azure Manager 24-hour monitor in web apps not working

$

Hi Folks,

We have recently upgraded our Azure subscription to EA (a few days ago) and now we cannot see any results when the '24 hours' monitor, for web apps, is selected.

Proper results appear when '1 hour' is selected.

When '7 days' is selected, we only see results from before the subscription upgrade.

Any ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix this would be appreciated.

Regards,

Sean
