Testing latency and connectivity from client to Datacenter

Hi,

I need to gather some metrics in a 'Cloud vs On-Premise' scenario.

For this I need to assess what kind of response times I can expect from a client in my corporate domain to an Azure data centre versus an on-premise subnet.

I cannot use PING to do this as ICMP will not work to VM's on the Azure datacentre - is there a way I can get a ballpark metric for this ?
