Azure Portal thinks HTML5 Storage is disabled on IE11 / Win 8.1 desktop

Hi, Azure team

I have encountered an issue today with the Azure portal

http<colon double slash>portal.azure.com

!   Running in IE 11 on Windows 8.1, HPE corporate standard build, I have the following error:

HTML5 Storage disabled

Sorry, we need HTML5 Storage (Local and Session) to run the portal. Please enable these settings or upgrade to a HTML5 storage-capable browser to use the portal. Some browsers disable these settings when running in private mode.

Looks like something went wrong

I sure hope that IE 11 is an HTML5 storage-capable browser!  I cannot find any Microsoft web pages, though, that confirm this.  There is no relevant result from a Bing search on the above error message or instructions on how to confirm this is enabled in IE11.

If this is actually the “DOM storage” item in advanced settings, then I do have it turned on.

The portal works perfectly on Chrome.  I have very little incentive here to use Microsoft’s browser!
