I have been running an MSDN SQL VM (from a Windows image with SQL installed) on the West Cost of US for several months but today, unexpectedly around 12:20pm PST, it stopped running. I could not RDP to it. The portal showed it had stopped. I selected the Start button in the Management Portal, no error message was issued, but the VM refused to start (It had been down about 20 minutes by this time.) I looked back 10 minutes later and the blasted thing was running!
1. I'm new to Azure. Where can I look to see if there was a regional\subregion (?) issue or it was strictly and issue with the HOST my VM was on? . (The VM has rebooted in the past but it usually starts in 3 minutes. This time the downtime was much longer than expected.)
2. I know its only an MSDN VM but I had no tech support at that time. What can I do (subscription service?) to avoid that "helpless" feeling in the future?
TIA,
